Launching: Antiquity Games Night!

Hi everyone, here with a fun announcement!

For around 15 years, scholars have written about the reception of antiquity in video games. What we haven’t done so much, however, is actually play these games together. Richard Cole (University of Bristol) and Alexander Vandewalle (University of Antwerp/Ghent University) are very happy to launch Antiquity Games Night, a monthly event where students, scholars, and designers can meet up online to play games set in antiquity collaboratively! Think: ‘reading group, but with games’. The goal is to actively play games together, connected online via Discord, and exchange thoughts about them in real time. We hope that, through AGN, our thinking about such games will take on new, innovative perspectives.

Interested, or want to know more? Join our Discord! For our first event, we’ll organize co-op play sessions of Smite (2014) on December 4 at 18:00 UTC. No previous experience required – though it’s recommended to finish the tutorial beforehand! After that, we’ll discuss dates & games in the Discord server.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
